New Belgium says it will locate warehouse, distribution outside River Arts District, WLOS reports

WLOS reported tonight, May 7, that after meeting with local business owners and residents, New Belgium Brewery has agreed to locate the warehouse/distribution component of its new Asheville facility outside the RIver Arts District.

The choice “will significantly cut down heavy truck traffic,” WLOS reported. “Where that will be hasn’t been decided yet. … They told the crowd of around 100 people they will re-use as much material as possible as they demolish the current buildings on the site. The brewery site will also have a greenway that runs parallel with the river. …

There will be another question and answer session Tuesday starting at 5:30 at The Artery at 346 Depot Street.

According to local photographer, Zen Sutherland, who attended the packed meeting, these graphs were released by New Belgium detailing project dates.

Okay, granted I wasn’t at this meeting so maybe it makes sense & I’m not catching on – but isn’t the site for New Belgium pretty much locked in, and it was already outside the River Arts District? This story reads like they have decided to move it.

Note to self: read carefully. They are moving a segment of the production chain offsite, but the brewery stays where it was.
