New Trader Joe’s grocery to open in Asheville this Friday

The colorful grocery store chain Trader Joe’s will open a new location in Asheville, with a grand opening celebration Friday.

The opening’s festivities will include live music, food samples and demonstrations, giveaways and more. The store will kick off its opening with a ceremonial lei cutting at 8 a.m., honoring the specific style and theme of the grocery story.

The Hawaiian shirts of the employees (also known as “Crew Members”) and the colorful Hawaiian decor of Trader Joe’s will be combined with some local flavor as well. The store has cedar covered walls to honor the mountain town it has chosen to settle in to. This location will also feature several hand-painted murals on the walls, honoring local landmarks such as the French Broad River, the Blue Ridge Parkway and more.

The 13,000 square foot grocery store will carry domestic and imported foods and beverages. Shoppers at Trader Joe’s will enjoy fresh-baked artisan bread, fresh coffee beans, a full deli, vitamins and supplements, and all of the grocery basics, at low costs.

Celebrate with Trader Joe’s Friday starting 8 a.m. at 120 Merrimon Avenue, with everyday hours from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
