Next Family Business Forum at UNCA on Oct. 14

UNC Asheville Family Business Forum to Focus on “Bridging the Personality Gap,” Oct. 14

“Bridging the Personality Gap” in family businesses will be the focus of the next UNC Asheville Family Business Forum presentation from 8-11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 in the Sherrill Center, Mission Health Mountain View Room, on the UNC Asheville campus.

The presenter will be Burt Lohoff-Gaida, founder of Lohoff-Gaida Consulting LLC. Participants in this session must register in advance, and with registration will come a link to an online survey from Professional Dynametric Programs to identify strengths, stresses, satisfaction, motivations, energy style and decision-making style. Lohoff-Gaida will guide participants in using the survey to improve productivity and sense of purpose in the workplace.

Admission is free to Family Business Forum members and $49 for non-members, with registration for the session at https://fbf.unca.edu/register.

On Thursday, Nov. 17 at 3-5 p.m., Marla and Leonard Chalnick of Stonebridge Connection will present a skit about a family conflict taking over the Thanksgiving dinner in a humorous take on “Gap the Conflict.”

On Thursday, Dec. 1 at 8-11 a.m., learn from Rollin Groseclose and Mickey Dale, both from Johnson Price Sprinkle, as they discuss changes in tax laws and possible consequences from the election in “Closing the Legal and Tax Gap.” Completing this session, attorneys Rebecca Crandall and Sabrina Rockoff of McGuire, Wood & Bissette will provide discussion on protecting a brand, and on overtime pay rules.

The Family Business Forum is a member-driven organization located at UNC Asheville. All forum events are based on feedback from members, and membership in the center is open to family and privately-held businesses. The mission of the UNC Asheville Family Business Forum is to provide professional learning opportunities to help family owned businesses maximize the overall well-being of their company and to assist with transition planning for the next generation of family ownership. The Family Business Forum is the only ongoing professional development and awareness-raising environment specifically designed for family businesses in Western North Carolina.
