North Carolina State Superintendent Mark Johnson concludes WNC Listening Tour in Asheville

North Carolina State Superintendent Mark Johnson wrapped up is four-day WNC Listening Tour in Asheville. He had the opportunity to visit Hall Fletcher Elementary School and the Martin L. Nesbitt Discovery Academy. There he got to talk with students and teachers and observe some of the innovative teaching practices the schools have put into place. He also presented Asheville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Denise Patterson with a ceremonial check, representing the Read to Achieve Funding that became available to K-3 Literacy Teachers statewide. After the tours, Superintendent Johnson was the guest speaker at the Asheville Rotary Club, where he talked about new approaches to education in North Carolina. In addition to Asheville, during his four day tour in WNC, Superintendent Johnson visited schools in Cherokee County, Clay County, Jackson County, Henderson County, Macon County, Swain County and Transylvania County.
