NorthLight Studios celebrates five years

Press release:

Angela Alexander, NorthLight Studios artist and long-time RADA (River Arts District Asheville) member, is queuing up for a double-header this November, participating in both NorthLight Studios’s 5 Year Anniversary and the River Arts District Fall Studio Stroll.
Thursday, Nov. 10 from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m., NorthLight Studios will be hosting an open house birthday celebration featuring lively music by Asheville’s very own gypsy-jazz group the HotPoint Trio. All five studio artists, Angela Alexander, Cheryl Keefer, Kathryn Phillips, Cason Rankin and Wendy Whitson, will have their studios open for guests to browse their most recent artwork.

Alexander has recently finished two new pieces:“I Nose I Can” of a grinning piglet and a horse entitled “Untameable,” both of which will be on display at the party. “I love painting pigs. Through the image of an adorable pig, I can express emotions that are inspiring for me as well as others,” Alexander said. “The horse, ‘Untamable,’ is only the second horse painting in my collection. My new style of painting is all about expressing energy, so I feel like horses are a great subject for me that I’m excited to explore more of.”

Following the anniversary celebration, NorthLight Studios will be doing doing a quick about-face to prepare for the River Arts District Fall Studio Stroll beginning Sat., Nov. 12 and running through Sun., Nov. 13 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily.

“I love the stroll because it is a time when all studios in the River Arts District are open, so we have many visitors,” Alexander said. “It’s always a pleasure to have people visit my studio. I love demonstrating my painting process, looking at pictures of people’s pets, and hearing their funny stories.”
