Pardee UNC Health Care expands sports medicine program to Transylvania County

Press release from Pardee UNC Health Care:

Pardee UNC Health Care has expanded its Sports Medicine program to Transylvania County with the addition of two full-time certified athletic trainers (ATCs) to support Brevard High School, Rosman High School, Brevard Middle School and Rosman Middle School.

The Pardee Sports Medicine team includes certified athletic trainers supported by board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic physicians and a sports medicine fellowship-trained internal medicine physician. Pardee has a robust network of experienced athletic trainers who support 19 schools across five counties, ensuring optimum coverage at all venues.

Pardee certified athletic trainers provide comprehensive concussion management and heat condition monitoring to ensure schools remain compliant with state requirements; oversee athletic training supply management to help schools leverage their supply budgets and purchase the most innovative, cost-effective products available; and facilitate CPR classes led by American Heart Association CPR instructors.

In conjunction with Southeastern Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, Pardee Sports Medicine will provide free annual sports physicals to Transylvania County student-athletes. This expansion also offers Transylvania County student-athletes access to Pardee’s multiple orthopedic office locations with walk-in appointments facilitated by their athletic trainer.

As an added bonus, the Pardee Sports Medicine Program has priority access to all Pardee Urgent Care locations. Pardee Urgent Care recently opened a location in Mills River that gives Transylvania County residents of all ages an access point to Pardee’s network of primary care providers and specialists for health care needs beyond sports medicine.

Pardee UNC Health Care is a not-for-profit community hospital founded in 1953 and is managed by UNC Health Care. The hospital is licensed for 222 acute care beds. Pardee has several locations separate from the main campus, including a comprehensive physician practice network, a cancer center, three urgent care locations and five orthopedic clinics.
