Pardee UNC Health Care nursing team honored with inaugural Hurst Gold Standard Award

Press release:

Pardee UNC Health Care announced today that its nursing team has received the inaugural Hurst Gold Standard Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement on performance measures that directly impact patient experience. Hurst Ratings and Analytics correlates quality indicators associated with nursing care from recent publicly available Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey data published quarterly by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The Gold Standard of Nursing award is awarded to hospitals whose nursing staff achieves top-tier weighted scores, significantly above the national average. The performance measures they use include patients’ perceptions of nursing clinical skills, communication skills, prompt responsiveness to needs, friendliness and courtesy, and attitudes and attention paid to special or personal requests.

“On behalf of the entire nursing team at Pardee, it is an honor to be recognized with the Hurst Gold Standard Award,” said Denise Lucas, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, vice president of clinical services and chief nursing officer at Pardee. “Our nurses exemplify what it means to put our patients first, providing care with empathy and expertise.”

This is the first year Hurst has distributed the Gold Standard Award. It is the first award by a rating service to celebrate outstanding nursing care based on industry quality and patient experience indicators.
