Park Ridge Health welcomes county’s first nephrologist Dr. Melissa Harrington to team of providers

Park Ridge Health is pleased to welcome Melisa Harrington, M.D., board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine, to its team of providers. As the county’s first nephrologist, Dr. Harrington will care for patients with chronic kidney disease, kidney failure or kidney complications resulting from diabetes, hypertension and autoimmune disorders. She will also provide ongoing care for kidney transplant patients.

“Dr. Harrington brings extensive experience in caring for patients with kidney complications in the hospital, clinic and dialysis settings,” said Jason Wells, Vice President of Physician Services at Park Ridge Health. “Park Ridge Health is pleased to bring this much-needed specialty to patients in Henderson County and surrounding areas.”

About Melisa Harrington, M.D.: Dr. Harrington earned her medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherlands Antilles. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Lafayette, La., and her fellowship in nephrology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine and Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans. Dr. Harrington served as a nephrologist with Abbeville General Hospital and Acadiana Renal Physicians for the past seven years, and was on-staff with Louisiana State University’s kidney transplant program since 2007.
