Pastimes comics and games offers special events for 35-year anniversary

Press release from Pastimes:

November 2015 marks Pastimes comic book stores’ 35-year anniversary serving Asheville and the surrounding communities. The shop is honoring the monumental birthday by offering a huge 35% savings off most products in the store for the entire month of November. Pastimes also has plans for an all day giant birthday party on Saturday November 28th, with free comics, cake and fun for everyone! 35% of ALL profits that day will be donated to “Eblen Charities” for all the hard work they do for the community. Every weekend in November will have something extra special going on, from creator signings to free products, so watch our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages or visit our website comicshopasheville.com for frequent updates. Pastimes is a fully stocked, full line comic book specialty store with all your comic book collecting needs and has the largest, on display, comic book back issue selection in North Carolina. Pastimes carries a full line of comic book supplies, games and gifts for the hero in your life.

Pastimes opened for operation in 1980 on Merrimon Ave initially selling buttons, stamps, and records. The shop moved a few miles north after demolition of our building in 2000 and has slowly evolved over the decades into the largest comic book store in Western North Carolina.

Pastimes is currently located at 175 Weaverville Hwy Suite Y in North Asheville just minutes from downtown and with an easy to find convenient location just off the highway (Exit 23).

“Pastimes opened for operation in 1980 on Merrimon Ave initially selling buttons, stamps, and records. ”

Not quite. It opened as Record Survival (a used record store) in 1980 on Patton Ave, moved to Merrimon a few years later. It added comics to its store before ending its used record business and changing its name to Pastimes and then moving to its current location.
