Pink Strong Steel Strong fundraising campaign runs through Oct. 31

Press release Bright Planning:

Asheville residents and visitors have recently noticed the sudden appearance of pink steel beams at 145 Biltmore Avenue, the future home of 145 Biltmore Avenue condo residences. This brightly colored construction is part of a larger call to action for the entire city.

Dave Steel Company, Beverly-Grant and 60 West Funds announced today they are partnering to sponsor an outreach campaign to raise $100,000 for the American Cancer Society to benefit breast awareness and research.

The Pink Strong Steel Strong fundraising campaign is officially online and will continue through October 31, 2019. Dollars raised help the American Cancer Society fund innovative breast cancer research; provide education and guidance to help people reduce their risk; and offer comprehensive patient support to those who need it most.

“It is truly a pleasure to be able to extend the collaboration of construction into the collaboration of community.” says Babette Freund, Executive Vice President of Dave Steel Company. “The month of October, which is National Breast Cancer awareness month, has provided us with an excellent opportunity, partnership and cause.”

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, except for skin cancers. Currently there are more than 3.1 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. This includes women still being treated, and those who have completed treatment.

“We are thrilled to partner with Dave Steel Co., Beverly-Grant and 60 West Investments on this unique campaign to bring awareness to breast cancer in Asheville,” says Julia Storto, Southeast community manager for American Cancer Society. “The Pink Steel Beam campaign  is absolutely the kind of innovative call to action we at the American Cancer Society are thrilled to see as we build community relationships and relaunch the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in the Asheville area.”

“The pink steel represents the strength of those individuals affected and the resolve of our community to eradicate this terrible disease through our donations,” says Al Sneeden, developer of 145 Biltmore Avenue.

A private corporate sponsor thank-you event will be held on October 18, 2019 at 145-155 Biltmore Avenue next to the pink beam construction, and this event will signal the culmination of a series of awareness and fundraising activities for The American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk will take place on October 12, 2019 at 10am at Pack Square. Registration begins at 9am. The walk will unite Asheville’s communities and honor those touched by the disease while raising awareness and funds for a world without breast cancer. At the Making Strides walk, one of 145 Biltmore Avenue’s pink steel beams will be available for participants to sign, for themselves or in dedication to their loved ones. Cards will be available for participants to easily make donations before, during or after their walk. The “signature beam” will then be raised during the corporate sponsor thank-you event on October 18, 2019, where it will be in public view in the days following.

“Beverly-Grant’s corporate culture places emphasis on giving back to our community and we are proud to take part in this fundraising opportunity.  The location of our 145 Biltmore project provides the perfect platform to bring as much awareness as possible to this endeavor, especially with the creative and eye catching pink steel,” says Ryan Boyle, project manager at Beverly-Grant. “We hope this fundraising project is the first of many more of its kind.”
