Press release from Project SEARCH:

Are you having trouble finding enough candidates for open positions in your company?

The Project SEARCH Asheville Reverse Job Fair is happening on Wednesday, May 9, from 11 am to 1 pm at the DoubleTree Biltmore Hotel at 115 Hendersonville Road.

“I have had the opportunity to meet and interview these interns and they are each eager for an employment opportunity and want to use the skills they have obtained,” said Natalie Shaft, Human Resources Director for Biltmore Farms.

All business sectors are welcome and encouraged to attend! Mission Health, Biltmore Company, Buncombe County, Biltmore Farms and Eaton Corporation are just a few of the proud supporters of the program and assist on the advisory board.

Are you looking for passionate, motivated, authentic, punctual and friendly employees? Project SEARCH interns are just the people for the job! These interns have been learning various skills at Mission Health and Park Ridge over the last 10 months and bring diversity, dedication and skills to your workplace!

The primary objective of Project SEARCH is to secure competitive employment for young adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Project SEARCH was developed at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in a research environment that fosters visionary thinking and innovation.

It all began in 1996, when Erin Riehle was Director of Cincinnati Children’s Emergency Department. Erin felt that, because the hospital served individuals with developmental disabilities, it made sense that they should commit to hiring people in this group.

As a starting point, Erin presented her ideas to Susie Rutkowski, then the special education director at Great Oaks Career Campuses. Erin and Susie formed a partnership that was instantaneous, and together they launched Project SEARCH.

Since its inception, Project SEARCH has grown from a single program site at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to sites across the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and the Netherlands.

What do you have to lose? Please stop by and talk to each person in this group of exceptional, dedicated and talented individuals! You may find your next star employee! What a great program! The Doubletree team can’t wait to host this event and hopefully add an employee or two to our team.
