Public invited to free seminars about new treatment for depression

Press release

From Park Ridge Health

Hendersonville, N.C. (January 14, 2012) – Dr. William Simons of Park Ridge Center for Mood Disorders will offer free presentations about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a revolutionary new treatment for depression. This non-invasive treatment is being used at top medical centers including Mayo Clinic, UCLA, Cleveland Clinic and UNC. TMS is an FDA-approved treatment that involves no medication, pain or sexual side effects. Using an MRI-strength magnet, TMS stimulates the area of the brain that is underactive with depression, allowing patients to enjoy the simple pleasures in life by restoring mood, energy, initiative and interests.

William Simons, M.D., board-certified psychiatrist, will offer two free presentations where the public can learn more about this treatment. The first will take place Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Mood Disorders, which is located at 50 Hospital Drive, Suite 3C, on the campus of Park Ridge Health. The second free presentation will take place Thursday, Feb. 28, from 12 – 1 p.m. in the Duke Room at Park Ridge Health. A free meal will be provided at each presentation. Space is limited, so reservations are required by calling 828-650-8034.
