Race To The Taps at Catawba Brewing Company, Sunday, March 13

PRESS RELEASE:

The most unique run in the mountains is about to begin as the 2016 season of Race To The Taps hits the road April 23 at 2:30pm at Catawba Brewing Company on Asheville’s South Slope. The five-miler kicks off a four-race series that will add up to 26.2 miles for runners and walkers who participate in the entire series.

“The race series is more of a challenge this year with four races of differing length. Running or walking them all gives you 26.2 miles under your belt. It’s quite an achievement! People can also join individual runs just for fun and embrace the brewery host brands,” explains Nikki Mitchell, events director for Mix 96.5. The station produces the race series, with presenting sponsors Paramount Kia and Gold’s Gym. “We encourage people to dress in Catawba-themed costumes, and can’t wait to see all the White Zombies and Mother Truckers running downtown.”

Regardless of finish time, runners with the most spirit could be crowned King or Queen of the Taps. The Gold’s Gym Golden MOP award goes to the runner in the “Middle of the Pack”, the closest in time between the fastest and slowest participant.

Registration is open online at RaceToTheTaps.com for $40, or $45 with a commemorative shirt. You can also save online processing fees, and register in person at a special sign up event at Catawba Brewing, 32 Banks Avenue, 12-2 pm this Sunday, March 13.

“The finish line party is just as fun for the participants as it is for their supporters,” adds Mitchell. “We’ll have food, Mix 96.5’s DJ Kipper playing fun, cool-down party tunes, and Race to the Taps partners showing off the latest gear and services for runners. Of course, we’ll have Catawba’s great craft brews on tap.” The Asheville Humane Society will be offering finish-line puppy snuggles, and will receive a portion of the Race To The Taps proceeds.
