Registration now open for the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Press release from the Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter:

Registration is now open for the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. The Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter is inviting Buncombe County and surrounding area residents to turn their communities into a sea of purple and help take steps to fight Alzheimer’s.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Asheville will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Pack Square Park, located at 80 Court Plaza in Asheville. Check-in opens at 9 a.m. and the Walks start at 10:30 a.m. This year’s goal for the Asheville Walk is $145,000.

Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® participants will complete a two-mile walk and will learn about Alzheimer’s disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment, and support programs and services from the Alzheimer’s Association. Walk participants will also join in a meaningful tribute ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

“We invite the community to join us in taking steps for Alzheimer’s disease to support those who are among the 170,000 North Carolina residents living with Alzheimer’s and their 473,000 caregivers,” said Katherine Lambert, CEO of the Western Carolina Chapter. “Our Walks are a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together to help end this disease and to raise critically need funds for Alzheimer’s research and local support services.”

The Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter hosts 13 walks across central and western North Carolina including: Asheville, Alamance Co., Charlotte, Gaston/Cleveland/Lincoln Counties, Guilford Co., Henderson Co., Hickory, Iredell Co., Moore Co., Mount Airy, North Wilkesboro, Rowan-Cabarrus Counties, and Winston-Salem. To sign up as a walker or Team Captain or to learn more about becoming a sponsor or volunteer, visit http://act.alz.org/Asheville  or call 800-272-3900.
