Renowned “Ambassador for Peace” Prem Rawat to speak in Asheville Aug. 4

Here’s the information via the local Words of Peace group:

Prem Rawat, known by many around the world as international “Ambassador for Peace” is speaking at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 6pm.

Prem Rawat has spoken about personal peace from an early age, inspiring audiences by bringing clarity and simplicity to seemingly complex life issues. He speaks from the heart, without script or rehearsal.

His speaking engagements range from small groups to hundreds of thousands and, whatever size the audience, his focus is on the individual. He explores the issues of personal peace, and the right of everyone to live in peace. – He uses humor and illustrates his points with light-hearted stories that people from all walks of life can relate to, and yet he is perfectly serious about his message – “When we live in peace with ourselves,” he explains, “living in peace with others will follow”.

Prem says, “In the heart of every human being is also a want – a wish to be content, a wish to be in peace. Peace is not absence of war. Peace is a fundamental human need that needs to be felt from within. It is from the hearts of human beings that peace can be created. We may look different, we may speak differently, but we have the same fundamental needs.”

He has spoken at many important venues and forums around the world, including the European Parliament, the United Nations, (New York and Bangkok), the Italian Senate, the parliaments of Australia, Argentina, and New Zealand, the Guildhall London, the Young Presidentsʼ Organization, any many leading universities, including Harvard.

He has received the keys to many cities and has been named an Ambassador of Peace, three times, by the UNIPAZ Peace University and two other governmental organisations.

In 2001, he established The Prem Rawat Foundation – a humanitarian aid organization that provides disaster relief, food, water, and eye care to the most challenged areas of the world.

Very much a modern man, Prem Rawat embraces innovation and cutting edge technology. He is an accomplished pilot, with over 12,000 hours flying time; in 2011, Prem flew over 100,000 nautical miles to speak in person to more than 500,000 people at 147 events worldwide, a schedule he has maintained for four decades and for which he makes no charge.

Married and the father of four grown children, Prem is a living example of how the experience of personal peace is available to everyone.

“My work,” he says, “is to reach out to people and introduce them to a possibility of peace that lies within each one of them. I hope that finding that peace will provide them with a more complete and balanced life and that they can find the inner joy that so many look for on the outside.”
