From an ABCCM press release:

Resort Travel & Xchange and Patton Hospitality Management raise $13,000 for ABCCM’s Christmas Angel Program

In an effort to help children and families in the Asheville area have a happier holiday season, Resort Travel & Xchange (RTX) and Patton Hospitality Management (PHM) teamed up to host a casino-themed fundraising event for their employees on Thursday, December 11. Employees raised a grand total of $13,000 for the Asheville-Buncombe Community Christian Ministries’ (ABCCM) Christmas Angel Program.

For over 40 years, the ABCCM has provided Christmas for families in crisis. There is always a need in every community and each year they try to alleviate the hardships facing their neighbors while bringing joy in this season of giving. The ABCCM’s families apply through the Crisis Ministry, The Steadfast House, Military Families Resource Center, Supportive Services for Veteran Families and several schools in Buncombe County.

“We are so thrilled to have RTX and PHM participate in our Christmas Angel Program this year. Their contributions will make a bright light shine so big for all of these children this holiday season,” said Sarah Fouts, Christmas Angel coordinator for ABCCM.

Employees contributed cash donations toward the charity to play casino games for chances to win vacations and other prizes donated by RTX, PHM and their affiliates. The $13,000 raised by employees went directly toward purchasing gifts and clothing for 32 children among 20 families in the ABCCM’s Christmas Angel program. About $395 was spent on each child, with an additional sum of more than $300 donated directly to the ABCCM.

After the event, 15 employees from both companies volunteered their time to shop for clothing and toys with the donation money so that these children will be sure to have something to look forward to on Christmas. On the morning of Friday, December 19, RTX and PHM employees delivered the gifts to the ABCCM in Asheville in seven cars packed full of toys and clothing.

“Every year, we hold an event like this that enables our employees to give back to our local community during the holidays, and it’s always a pleasure and a reward to work with ABCCM,” said Sara Little, director of communications for RTX and coordinator of the event. “Our employees love getting involved, especially when it comes to shopping for the children. Some bring their own children along to help shop, teaching them at a young age about the importance of giving during this season.”

RTX and PHM are pleased to be able to make a difference in our community and help children in our area have a happier holiday season. We would like to thank our sponsors including Zealandia Capital, ImageSmith Communications, Classic Event Rental, Asheville Tourists, Sun Hospitality and Terrapin Beer. We’d also like to thank all of our employees for their participation and contributions to this fantastic cause.
