Ribbon cutting event marks completion of 48-unit affordable housing complex Mars Hill Commons, Aug. 28

To celebrate the completion of newly built affordable housing complex Mars Hill Commons, Mountain Housing Opportunities, Inc. (MHO) and the Community Housing Coalition of Madison County (CHC) are holding a ribbon cutting event at the 48-unit development on Friday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m.

“Mars Hill Commons was built with loans and equity from the Federal Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) program, NC State Housing Tax Credit program, the NC State Housing Trust Fund, the HUD HOME consortium, and the Federal Home Loan Bank,” according to a media release from MHO. “First Citizens Bank provided the construction financing, and were the sponsor to the Federal Home Loan Bank for the first mortgage. … Partnerships between federal, state and local programs helped make this beautiful new rural affordable housing development happen.”

Mars Hill Commons is located on Mars Hill Commons Lane just off of Roy Edwards Lane in Mars Hill, NC 28754.

Head northeast on Clingman Ave toward Patton Avenue, go 0.2 mile.
Turn left onto Patton Ave, go 0.1 mile.
Keep right at the fork, follow signs for US-19 N/US-23 N/US-70 W/Weaverville, go 0.3 mile.
Continue onto I-26 W/US-19 N/US-23 N/US-70 W.
Continue to follow I-26 W/US-19 N/US-23 N, go 16.2 mile.
Take exit 11 for N Carolina 213 toward Mars Hill/Marshall, go 0.3 mile.
Turn left onto NC-213 W (signs for N Carolina 213 W/Marshall/Mars Hill), go 0.6 mile.
Turn right onto Roy Edwards Ln/State Maintained Rd, go 0.1 mile.
You will see Mars Hill Commons on your left. Turn into parking area.
