Rotary Club of Asheville responds to COVID-19

Press release from the Rotary Club of Asheville:

The Rotary Club of Asheville makes changes to help those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

For the first time in our memory the Rotary Club of Asheville weekly meetings have been suspended. Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, communities worldwide are looking for additional support and resources. Since weekly meetings were suspended, that left the club with an excess of meal fees that the membership felt had to be put to some good. Therefore, the Rotary Club of Asheville is donating all meal fees collected by members to Manna Food Bank. The Rotary Club of Asheville is also donating to Manna all funds that were to be used for a youth leadership event that was canceled.

In total, the Rotary Club of Asheville is donating $5400 to Manna Food Bank to assist with their efforts to combat food insecurity during this outbreak.

“It is important in times of struggle to find a positive way to support our community,  help others in need and give back. This donation was just a small way that the Rotary Club of Asheville could give back to the communities of western North Carolina and assist with food insecurity during these uncertain times.” says Rotary Club of Asheville Club President, Janet Whitworth. “I am proud that our club and board have made the decision to use these funds in this way, it is a great representation of the Rotary Four Way Test!”

*The Rotary Four Way Test:

First, Is it the truth?

Second, Is it fair to all concerned?

Third, Will it build good will and better friendships?

Fourth, Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
