“Scandal” acrtress Bellamy Young talks to “Southern Living” about Asheville

Bellamy Young (born Amy Young) plays Mellie Grant, First Lady of the U.S., on ABC drama series “Scandal.” Young was born in Asheville (she’s an ’87 grad of the Asheville School), and recently spoke to “Southern Living” about her hometown. Her “Paper Napkin Interview” is featured in this month’s issue.

A couple of Young’s responses, from a press release:

On Her Hometown, Asheville:
“Asheville is an experience that you can’t understand until you’ve been. It’s a joy for me when I can get people there and then meet up with them after their visit. We just sit and have a quiet, knowing moment about the amazing ineffable magic of Asheville.”

On Vegan Restaurants in Asheville:
“Asheville is a great city for vegan foodies. There’s tofu lasagna at Avenue M, located a block from my childhood home. The vegan Rueben sandwich from the Laughing Seed – ridiculous. Then there’s The Hop’s vegan milk shakes. So good I could cry.”
