Search for missing hiker continues — NPS now looking for second lost hiker

According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, Rangers in Great Smoky Mountains National Park were looking for a second missing person Wednesday, a development that was straining rescue operations despite the arrival of searchers from as far away as Ohio and Alabama.

Michael Giovanni Cocchini, 23, a Nashville, Tenn., resident who had been staying in Gatlinburg, was last seen Sunday. The search for him got under way late Tuesday and intensified Wednesday in the northern section of the park near Gatlinburg.
