Second Annual Asheville Food Truck Showdown

From a press release:

Second Annual Asheville Food Truck Showdown

Across Western North Carolina chefs are getting ready to bring their A-game to the Second Annual Asheville Food Truck Showdown! Dozens of food trucks will be competing for the title of Best Truck in Asheville and the People’s Choice award.  Last year more than 1,500 people enjoyed selections ranging from tacos to Rabbit Etouffee and everything in between.  This year’s competition will be fierce with new and returning trucks trying to take the title for themselves.

Presented by the Asheville Tattoo and Arts Expo, the Food Truck Showdown is an event for the whole family.  The Masonic Temple at 80 Broadway will have music by DJ TJ, face painting for the kids, raffles, puppies and some of the most innovative food in Asheville from noon-8 p.m.  The adults are welcome to the official after party sponsored by PBR and Sailor Jerry Rum at Broadways starting at 8 p.m.

The proceeds from the Food Truck Showdown will go to the Asheville Humane Society, Montford Park Players and the Asheville Masonic Temple.  Attendees are encouraged to bring pet food, kitty litter and pet toys for the Humane Society and consider adopting one of the dogs they will bring to the event.

After people have had a chance to eat all they can and help these amazing charities, they are invited to go to the Renaissance Hotel for the Rat Rod Rumble car show, the Asheville Freakfest Talent show, tattoo contests and tattooing by famous artists from around the world at the Asheville Tattoo and Arts Expo.  “The Food Truck Showdown is our way of helping some great charities, supporting our amazing food trucks and making sure the weekend festival is a fantastic time for everyone,” said JR Yarnall, one of the event’s organizers.
