Senior Dogs At Asheville Humane Society and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue fetch grant from Grey Muzzle Foundation

Press release from Asheville Humane Society:

Asheville, NC (August 16, 2021) – Old dogs have something to wag about this summer, as The Grey Muzzle Organization announces the recipients of its annual grants. Dogs at Asheville Humane Society and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue are among the 77 national winners!

Animal welfare groups who received grants to help senior dogs were chosen from 266 applicants. The winning groups received more than $616,000 total in grants to help save or improve the lives of at-risk old dogs in their communities.

“No one is more grateful or loving than an old dog, and we’re all looking forward to helping more senior dogs get the second chance they all deserve,” said Leah Craig Fieser, Executive Director of Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. “It’s wonderful that both of our lifesaving organizations have received these grant funds so that even more senior dogs in our region can be healed and adopted into loving homes,” said John Hass, Interim Executive Director at Asheville Humane Society.

Over the past 13 years, the national nonprofit Grey Muzzle Organization has provided more than $3.1 million in grants to support its vision of “a world where no old dog dies alone and afraid.”

“Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re delighted to help deserving organizations like Asheville Humane Society and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue make a difference in the lives of dogs and people in their communities,” Grey Muzzle’s Executive Director Lisa Lunghofer said. “Many senior dogs in the Asheville area are enjoying their golden years in loving homes thanks to these organizations’ wonderful work.”
