Sewage leak detected along Reed Creek Greenway

Public Health Warning

From Asheville GreenWorks:

Local environmental non-profit Asheville GreenWorks has detected raw sewage containing human feces being piped directly into the Reed Creek along the Reed Creek Greenway. This issue has been reported to Buncombe County Health and Human Services to investigate. For the time being, we’re asking everyone using the Reed Creek Greenway to please stay out of the creek. For the safety of your pets, please don’t allow them to venture into the water until this situation is resolved. We will continue to send out updates as they’re available.

If you know of someone piping sewage or greywater directly into a waterway, you can file the report discreetly by phoning: 828-250-5971 or by visiting the County’s Website: http://www.buncombecounty.org/governing/depts/health/EnvironmentalHealth.aspx
