Sheriff’s Office charges man in armed robbery, suspect arrested in Polk County

Press release from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office:

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office has charged Charles Shawn Gary in connection with an Armed Robbery at a Dollar Tree store located at 1125 Brevard Road in Buncombe County on July 24. On July 28, the Sheriff’s Office obtained the following criminal warrants for Mr. Gary:

  • Robbery With A Dangerous Weapon

  • Second Degree Kidnapping

  • Safecracking

  • Assault On A Female

  • Assault By Pointing A Gun

More charges are possible as this remains an ongoing investigation.

Mr. Gary was recently arrested in Polk County and is currently detained in the Polk County Detention Facility on unrelated charges.

“Thank you to Detectives with our Major Crimes and Property Crimes Units who worked diligently to identify and make an arrest in this case. I would also like to thank the Fletcher Police Department and Polk County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the investigation and apprehension of Mr. Charles Shawn Gary,” says Lt. Bryon Crisp of the Criminal Investigations Division at the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.
