Press release:

As a beloved fairy tale, most think they know the ending to the story of Snow White. However, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs of the Black Forest is a hilarious take on the classic that reimagines the iconic characters to create a delightful world in which every character has their happy ending. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs of the Black Forest will be presented by the Youth Production Class at Asheville Community Theatre November 13-15, 2015 with performances Friday, November 13 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 at 2:30 pm. All tickets are $5.00 and are available online, by phone at 828-254-1320 or at the door.

“This version of Snow White is a little different from the Disney version that so many are familiar with,” said Chanda Calentine, Program Director at ACT. “There are new characters, a stepmother who’s more funny than evil, and a veritable zoo of animal friends. It’s a fun interpretation, and we liked that our students can have some experience working with a well-known story that has been creatively re-mixed!”

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs of the Black Forest is directed by Jeff Catanese. Students have been rehearsing afterschool since early September to develop their characters, learn lines and blocking, and create a complete production.

The Asheville Community Theatre production stars a cast of 21 students between the ages of 7 and 13. From auditions to the final curtain call, the Youth Production Classes at ACT provide students the opportunity to participate in a play from beginning to end.
