Southeast’s largest fly-fishing event returns to Ag Center
2014 WNC Fly Fishing Expo set for December 5-6

The 6th Annual WNC Fly Fishing Expo is set for Friday-Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6, at the WNC Agricultural Center. This two-day fly-fishing extravaganza will provide anglers with a forum to sharpen their skills and learn about the latest innovations in their sport. It has become the Southeast’s largest event for fly-fishers, averaging more than 1,000 visitors over the course of the weekend.

The expo will feature local fly shops, angling organizations and fly-fishing art, while companies such as Simms, Orvis, Scientific Anglers, Flymen Fishing and Sage will showcase the newest gear for 2015. This year’s featured speakers will be renowned fly-fishing experts addressing the distinctive tactics for fly-fishing the Southeast’s diverse waters, including freshwater and saltwater. Speakers will present tactics for casting for everything from trout to bass to musky.

The 3,200 square-foot indoor casting pond will be sponsored by the Southeastern Council of the International Federation of Fly Fishers. Certified casting instructors will instruct attendees of all skill levels on technical casts and guide them through the course.

Hours for the 6th Annual WNC Fly Fishing Expo will be Friday, Dec. 5 from 12 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door for adults and free for children 16 years of age and younger.
