Spruce Pine Alien Conference and Expo beams down June 14-15

Press release from the organizers of the Spruce Pine Alien Conference and Expo:

The question that seems to come up most is: Why an alien conference in Spruce Pine, of all places? That is a legitimate question for visitors who pass through this small, sleepy town. But if you speak to locals, you will get a full understanding on the why.

Mitchell County, where Spruce Pine is located, was listed as the No. 1 county in North Carolina for UFO sightings. And one of the reasons might be the vein of quartz and gems that are located in the hills around the county. Spruce Pine has been long known as the mineral city, for a good reason. People have been coming to visit for over 30 years to the gem and mineral festivals held yearly. Now we are celebrating something a little different.

There have been sightings around this county for years. It has been reported that there were three different UFO crash sites that were investigated. The town is in close proximity to Mount Mitchell (the largest mountain east of the Mississippi) and the Brown Mountain Lights. There are so many unexplained events around Spruce Pine that it just makes sense to have an alien festival in town.

The festival will be held on Lower Street in downtown Spruce Pine on June 14 and 15. Friday night is just a warmup for folks visiting and maybe a chance to catch a glimpse of something out of this world. We will have LIVE MUSIC! Sending signals to outer space! People can join us in the MARS LANDING pavilion for beer and the best ‘80s rock ’n’ roll, with the best ‘80s party band, SPANK! It will be a great time.

On Saturday, the events start early with an official opening at 9 a.m.

There is going to be a little bit for everyone. Children will have a chance to race bikes, like in the movie E.T., for some fun prizes. There will be a youth costume contest and an entire area of inflatable bounce houses for them to play in.

The adults can wander through all of Spruce Pine. On one end will be a large beer garden for parents to relax. Food vendors down the middle and then folks selling all types of items related to Spruce Pine and the visitors we receive here. At night, there will be a couple of bands sending sounds into the night air. Visitors can also visit the Bare Dark Sky Observatory; there will be shuttles leaving every 30 minutes from town.

Mike Bara from Ancient Aliens is one of the great speakers we have on tap for this event. Mike Bara is a New York Times bestselling author, lecturer and TV personality whose books have sold over 70,000 copies worldwide. He began his writing career after spending more than 25 years as an engineering designer/consultant for major aerospace companies, where he was a card-carrying member of the military/industrial complex. A self-described “Born Again conspiracy theorist,” Mike’s first book “Dark Mission: The Secret History of NASA” was a New York Times bestseller from Feral House in 2007. His second book, “The Choice,” which concerns theories about hyper-dimensional physics, planetary formation, conscious thought and how they relate to the Mayan calendar, Hopi prophecies and the current era of dramatic change, was published by New Page Books in 2010.

In 2012, Mike published “Ancient Aliens on the Moon” from Adventures Unlimited Press, a new in-depth study of artificial structures on the moon and the secrets it has held for millions of years. In 2017, Mike published his first novel, “Lightbringer,” an X-Files styled thriller about a NASA-based secret society’s attempt to create a worldwide catastrophic event in order to seize power. In 2018, Mike returned to the world of nonfiction with “Ancient Aliens and JFK: The Race to the Moon and the Kennedy Assassination,” which examines the new Kennedy documents and how they point to JFK’s knowledge of the alien presence on Earth as the real reason behind the president’s murder.

There will be a little bit of knowledge and fun for everyone of every age. Just a great day in the mountains.
