State GOP distances itself from WNCGOP twitter account, sexist remarks about Rep. Fisher

A spokesperson for the North Carolina Republican Party has distanced the organization from the WNCGOP twitter account, emphasizing that the anonymous user behind the account is not connected with the official party and that it doesn’t condone remarks last Thursday calling Asheville Rep. Susan Fisher a “shrew” and “an argument for eugenics.”

From NBC Charlotte:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The North Carolina Republican Party has moved to distance itself from a series of ugly, sexist tweets issued under the GOP name against an Asheville legislator, calling her a “shrew” and “an argument for eugenics.”

“We do not condone the comments of this group that is not affiliated with the North Carolina Republican Party, and have no control over account names of twitter handles that get registered on the social media platform,” said NC GOP spokesman Mike Rusher in an e-mail statement to NBC Charlotte.

“…the anonymous user behind the account is not connected with the official party…”

Well, if it is anonymous, how is it known if there is a connection or not? Sounds pretty much like the kind of bilge today’s GOP dishes out routinely.

Yeah, and he’s definitely toned down his comments. Right. Here’s one posted after the State GOP “denounced” him:

We all know who this is. Why is this game going on at BCGOP? They allow him to do this, they are just as responsible for the shameful content. Cluck cluck clucking about not having the ability to shut it down is nonsense.
