Summer camps for kids at Tryon Fine Arts Center

Press release from Tryon Fine Arts Center:

Kids can get a first-hand arts experience this summer with an immersive day camp in drama or music. Registration is open now for Theater Camp and Pacolet Junior Appalachian Musician (PacJAM) camp at Tryon Fine Arts Center.

From Monday, July 16 through Friday, July 20, students ages 6-14 can be immersed in the traditional music of the foothills at PacJAM summer camp. Students received instruction in their choice of banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, or ukulele with enrichment classes in dancing, folk songs, and storytelling. The week ends with a concert for campers to show off their skills to family and friends.

The popular Summer Theater Camp returns from July 30 through August 3 with classes from 9am-3pm Monday through Friday at Sunnydale. Campers aged 8 through 12 learn the ins and outs of theater, from learning lines to helping with sets and costumes. On Saturday, August 4 at 10am, the campers present a fully staged performance at Tryon Fine Arts Center.  Summer Theater Camp is presented in collaboration with Tryon Little Theater. Early registration is recommended; spots fill quickly.

Additional information and registration for both PacJAM and Summer Theater Camp is available online at tryonarts.org or by calling 828-859-8322.
