Press release:

Sustain Charlotte receives Parsec Prize Funds will support efforts to build a more sustainable future

Asheville, N.C. – Parsec Financial, a fee-only wealth management firm, recently awarded Sustain Charlotte a Parsec Prize for 2016. Sustain Charlotte will receive $15,000 and will use the funds to improve and expand their program initiatives.

Sustain Charlotte is known across the region as the leading voice for sustainability. Their mission is to inspire choices that lead to a healthier and more vibrant community for generations to come. This is accomplished through educating, engaging and uniting citizens to solve Charlotte’s sustainability challenges.

Their work primarily focuses on the key issues of land use and transportation. They recognize that excellence in these areas creates a solid foundation for a connected, sustainable community for all who live in the region, especially given the region’s expected population growth.

“Sustain Charlotte’s staff and Board of Directors are incredibly honored to be selected as recipients of a Parsec Prize! The funds will support our efforts to build a more sustainable future for the Charlotte metro area as our city prepares to welcome 400,000 new residents over the next 25 years. Sustain Charlotte educates, inspires, and empowers people to make more sustainable transportation and land use choices as we work towards a future where everyone who calls this region home can enjoy economic opportunity, social equity, and a healthy environment.” – Sustain Charlotte
This year, ten organizations will share a total of $100,000. “Parsec has long maintained a significant commitment to helping local nonprofits in the communities we serve. The work these organizations do to improve the lives of others and our communities we live in is impressive,” says Rick Manske, CEO, Parsec Financial.
One of the fundamental values at Parsec Financial is giving back to the community. Parsec founded the Parsec Prize in 2005 and since that time, Parsec has given over $850,000 in prizes to 61 local nonprofits serving Western North Carolina and Charlotte. The Parsec Prize represents approximately one half of Parsec’s annual charitable giving.
