Swannanoa bank robbery suspect, Clyde Nixon, apprehended in Tennessee

According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, A Swannanoa man wanted in connection with four bank robberies in the area was arrested Tuesday in Tennessee.

The Kingsport Police Department took Clyde Allen Nixon into custody around 10:30 a.m. When officers initially located the 60-year-old, he fled in a vehicle. He was arrested a short time later and is now facing charges in Tennessee, in addition to the numerous charges related to bank robberies in North Carolina.

The Asheville Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office held a joint news conference in April, seeking help from the public in locating Nixon’s whereabouts. Nixon was wanted in connection with two bank robberies in February and two in March:
