Sylva Art and Design Committee hosts second pop-up gallery

Press release from the Sylva Art and Design Committee:

The Sylva Art and Design Committee is pleased to present their second pop-up gallery event featuring multidisciplinary local artists within the community. “The Blending of Tradition and Modernity in Culture Groups” will run on December 13th 2019 from 6-9pm at Viva Arts Studio in downtown Sylva.

This exhibition will present artists of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds who offer perspectives on the blending of tradition, culture and modernity from a wide variety of contexts and experiences. All visual art genres and mediums will be featured. All artwork will be available for sale and can be picked up after the exhibit ends. A percentage of funds raised during the pop-up exhibition will go to SADC to help further public arts displays in downtown Sylva, with the remainder going directly to participating artists.

This project is supported by the NC Arts Council – a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources.

Viva Arts Studio is located on 456 W. Main Street, in downtown Sylva. For further information about the event or to apply as an exhibiting artist, please contact the Sylva Art and Design Committee at sylvaartdesign@gmail.com Follow us on FB www.facebook.com/sylvapublicart or on Instagram @sylvaartdesigncommittee.

The SADC mission is to foster safe, inclusive, and accessible spaces for members of our community to participate in and experience public art. We hope to enhance the attractiveness of Sylva’s business district through building rehabilitation, new development, cleanup initiatives, banners, landscaping and lighting improvements. An aesthetically pleasing business district is an integral part of creating a quality place to shop, work, walk and invest.
