Join Pan Harmonia for a free festive Cinco de Mayo celebration with music from some of Latin America’s finest all-star composers including – 14 time Grammy winner Jazz star, Paquito D’Rivera, Argentine tango master Astor Piazzola, Brazilian geniuses Heitor Villa-Lobos and Osvaldo LaCerda along with sizzling Venezuelan flute tones of Omar Acosta. This program concludes Pan Harmonia’s 17th Season and ranges from sweet suave Tangos to powerful pulsing tunes!! It will be offered admission free at two locations — Harry’s on the Hill, Cadillac Showroom on Patton Avenue and in the serene beauty of St. James Episcopal Church in Black Mountain.
Since its creation in 2000, the musicians of Pan Harmonia have played hundreds of concerts for many, many people, ranging from preschoolers to the elderly, for classical and contemporary art music aficionados, those newly drawn to the art form and for those often forgotten in prisons, homeless shelters and senior facilities. Flutist, founder and artistic director Kate Steinbeck believes social justice and arts access go hand-in-hand and that music exists to share widely and deeply with our community and across all levels of our society. In the spirit of sharing, Pan Harmonia offers numerous free events every season often in unexpected corners and unlikely venues in Asheville, around WNC and Upstate SC.
