Taste of Asheville postponed, 2021 AIR Passport production suspended

Press release from the Asheville Independent Restaurant Association:

For AIR members, COVID-19 has forced us to rethink every aspect of our business from cleaning protocols and seating to menus and staffing. It hasn’t been easy, and we appreciate the outpouring of support we’ve received. Our restaurants are open and still serving delicious, award-winner food because of your unwavering support. Unfortunately, we’re a long way off from business-as-usual. Knowing this, we have made two difficult decisions.

The first is to forego this year’s Taste of Asheville. To do anything else would be reckless. We hope our favorite foodie event will return in 2021 when it is safe for us to gather in person, again.

The second is that we are suspending production of the 2021 AIR Passport. Under the current circumstances, it’s simply not feasible. But stay tuned. In January, we’ll be launching a new way you can support your favorite AIR restaurants.

“What can we do to help?” is a question we hear a lot at AIR. The answer is simple. Dine in, take out, get delivery and tip generously. Every single order helps us keep our doors open, our kitchens humming, and our staff working.

So, stay calm and carry on. We are. Practice the three WWWs – Wear (a mask), Wash (your hands) and Wait (at least six feet apart). And above all, enjoy the taste of Asheville.
