Team Phoenix cited for teamwork at Lego League Robotics Contest

Buncombe County’s Phoenix Robotics team members travelled to Greensboro last week and brought back the “Core Values-Inspiration” award given to a team based on their ability to work together as a team and include all team members equally in the process.

The Phoenix Robotics team was competing in the state first Lego League Robotics Contest. The local team was one of 96 from across the state.

Members of the team included: Henry Jennings, David Snider, Maia Judd, Elizabeth Gempe, Mason Gempe, Matthew Furman and Eli Windsor.

Team coaches are Mike and Rhonda Gempe and the team mentor is John Schnautz.

The team is affiliated with the Buncombe County 4H Club, and its members come from different schools.
