10:00 AM Tarsands Action, STOP THE PIPELINE!
A Canary Coalition REAL NEWS video report, recorded during the nonviolent civil disobedience campaign that took place at the White House between August 20-Sept 3, 2011. This campaign, led to President Obama’s decision to delay approval of the 1700-mile Keystone Pipeline that would have carried dirty and destructive Canadian tarsands crude oil to the Gulf of Mexico for refining. This was the largest coordinated act of nonviolent civil disobedient in the history of the United States of America. (20 minutes)

11:00 The University Connecting Rail Network (UNICORN)
A proposed statewide public transportation system in North Carolina that would connect the major State University hubs from Wilmington to Western Carolina University with all the towns and cities in-between. Light rail and buses, not new roads. Presented by architect Odell Thompson and Canary Coalition Director Avram Friedman. (30 minutes)

12 noon Bill McKibben Speaks in Asheville
A Canary Coalition REAL NEWS video report, recorded on November 30, 2011 at Lipinsky Auditorium, UNCA. McKibben is a powerful writer, speaker and leading climate activist. Inspiring (58 minutes).

1:15 Move to Amend
A Canary Coalition REAL NEWS video report, recorded January 20, 2012 at peaceful demonstrations in Bryson City and Asheville calling for a constitutional amendment to rescind corporate personhood and to allow for the regulation of corporate money in political campaigns. (36 minutes) Followed by a discussion led by members of the Canary Coalition, OccupyWNC and the local Move to Amend affiliate organization.

2:30 Utility Rate Restructuring: First Step to a Sustainable Energy Future
How can we lower monthly utility bills, save energy, shut down polluting coal and nuclear power plants and create tens of thousands of new industries and jobs? The Director of the Canary Coalition, Avram Friedman, will conduct this presentation. (60 minutes)

3:30 Appalachia Rising
A Canary Coalition REAL NEWS video report, recorded on September 27, 2010, at the White House, during a demonstration involving nonviolent civil disobedience to protest the continuing destructive practice of mountaintop removal coal mining in Appalachia. (14 minutes)
