The Crafty Historian: Toys, Games, and Pastimes

From the WNC Historical Association press release

The “Crafty Historian”, Museum Education Coordinator Lisa Whitfield, is planning a variety of Victorian and old-fashioned games and toys for all to enjoy! Participants will also be invited to make a handmade toy to take home. “Children love games! ” says Whitfield, “We like to think of these old games and toys as ‘before batteries’ toys. Board games make you think and these old toys make you work just a little”.

Children above the age of nine may come to the event without a parent, but younger children will need adult supervision. The event will take place on Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 10:30am to 12:30pm at the Smith McDowel House Museum. Admission: $3 each to cover craft expenses. Reservations are suggested, so call by March 15. Call 838-253-9231 or email education@wnchistory.org (Inclement weather date is January 28)
