The second part of the Ingles / Eblen Tools for Schools program is set for this Wednesday August 22nd as we will begin distributing the school supplies we collected last Wednesday and will continue to collect throughout the year.
Beginning at 9:00 AM this Wednesday we will open the doors at the Ingles Toy Store (Bon Marche) in the Westgate Shopping Center to hundreds of families seeking help so their children can start the new school year with everything they need.
“There is no question the annual Tools for Schools drive makes a significant impact in the lives of children here in Buncombe County,” David Thompson, director of student services for Buncombe County Schools, said. “The reality is too many families have economic struggles that would prevent countless students from coming to school prepared for learning on the first day. Having the necessary supplies helps students feel valued and much more confident heading into the school year.”
The Ingles Pharmacy/Eblen Immunization Project
Eblen Charities will be once again be partnering with Ingles Pharmacy, Buncombe County Heath and Human Services, Buncombe County and Asheville City Schools, Family Care of Black Mountain, and Young Transportation to provide free immunizations for students entering kindergarten and 7th grade who have not received their vaccinations and do not have a primary care physician.
We will again be providing the immunizations at the Buncombe County Health Department and will be offering a shuttle service (thanks to Eblen Charities board member Tom Crouch and Young Transportation) from 9 AM to 4 PM.
If you still would like to join us in this great program and help donate school supplies, please bring them by the Eblen Charities Waddell Client Service Center anytime Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.
