Top of the Monk presents ‘Good Whiskey Hunting’ whiskey tasting on Feb. 18

Press Release

From Thirsty Monk Pub & Brewery:

Asheville, NC—2/3/2014: Top of the Monk, one of Asheville’s premier spots for cocktails, located above the Downtown Thirsty Monk, is presenting Good Whiskey Hunting, an entertaining and informative evening centered around that most wondrous of spirits: whiskey. This special event will feature the brand ambassador for Macallan / Remy Martin / Cointreau, who will be on hand to talk about spirits and cocktails, as well as purchase cocktails and whiskey flights for customers to try.

“We’re excited to have this event at Top of the Monk, it’s a perfect complement to Whiskey Wednesdays, our weekly whiskey flight series that we started a little while back,” said Chall Gray, Vice President of Thirsty Monk, “and this will be a great opportunity for folks to try something new courtesy of the brand ambassador.”

The expert bartenders at Top of the Monk, one of whom, Kala Brooks, has an upcoming profile in Verve Magazine, will also have several special cocktails ready for the event. The bar has been quickly making a name for itself since opening last fall. Their focus on classic cocktails and their stylish second floor location, replete with a roof top patio, has proved a hit with locals, as has their unique model of including a bite of food with every drink purchase.

The bar also recently received press coverage in WNC Magazine, Paste Magazine and a write-up in Imbibe Magazine, in their prestigious annual Imbibe 75 list of influencers in the drinks world. With Top of the Monk leading the way, Asheville’s burgeoning craft cocktail scene is now starting to get national attention in the same way that beer has over the last few years, and one thing is certain, no matter your preference, 2014 will be a great year to have a drink in Asheville.
