Traffic shift scheduled on I-40 West, July 26-29

Press release from North Carolina Department of Transportation:

N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will begin shifting traffic on Interstate 40 West near mile marker 115 in Icard starting at 8 p.m. Friday, weather permitting. The shift is part of a project to replace two bridges in this area.

During the shift, westbound traffic will be directed to the new bridge. Eastbound traffic will not be affected.

Drivers heading toward Morganton should prepare for delays in this area until the shift is completed Monday morning, July 29.
