Transylvania County Arts & Culture Celebration

Celebrate the arts during the Arts & Culture Celebration in Transylvania County. Events begin on Saturday, June 20, with the Brevard Music Center opening night, and runs through Saturday, July 4.

The Transylvania Community Arts Council invites everyone to explore the creative side of Brevard and Transylvania County during Arts & Culture Celebration 2015, which will be held June 20 thru July 4. Tammy Hopkins, Executive Director of the TC Arts Council said, “This is a celebration of ALL of the ARTS in Brevard and Transylvania County. With more than 100 ART events in two weeks, we hope members of the community and visitors alike will get out and try something new. Not only can you enjoy the ARTS as a spectator, but you can participate in the ARTS with street dances, music jams, art classes, open mic nites, guided walks, and pottery classes.” Sponsors for the 2015 Arts & Culture Celebration include: Jerome & Summey Insurance, City of Brevard, Audrey Love Charitable Foundation, United Community Bank, NC Arts Council and the TC Arts Council.

The Arts & Culture Celebration kicks-off on Saturday, June 20 with the Brevard Music Center opening night with Andre Watts. Other events include: Brevard’s 4th Friday Gallery Walk, an open-mic nite for writers, music jams, an old-time street dance, art exhibits, the AAUW Book Sale, pottery classes for all ages, Hunger Games™ Unofficial Fan Tours, drawing classes, live radio shows on the courthouse lawn, storytelling, BLT Broadway Cabaret, exhibits at the Cradle of Forestry, art programs and concerts at the Transylvania County Library, concerts at the Brevard Music Center, the Transylvania Art Guild’s Summer Showcase at the TC Arts Council, concerts at 185 King Street and The Phoenix and much, much more.

Arts & Culture Celebration ends with a bang at the 4th of July Celebration to be held on Saturday, July 4 in downtown Brevard on Main Street from 9 am – 5 pm with the TC Arts Council’s 43rd annual Fine Arts & Crafts Showcase as part of the downtown festivities. The downtown festival is put on by the Heart of Brevard and includes vendors, music, a classic car show, a 5K run, and don’t miss the fireworks extravaganza at 9:30 pm at Brevard College. There will also be a Duck Race for Kreative Kids at 6 pm at Kings Creek at Brevard College put on by the TC Arts Council to raise funds for creative kids’ art scholarships. Also on July 4 at the Brevard Music Center, enjoy the Pendergrast Family Pops Concert at 2 pm.
