UNC Eshelman Pharmacy School to hold open house at UNC Asheville, Sept. 16

Press release form UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Asheville Campus:

The Asheville satellite campus of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will host an open house on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will take place at UNC Asheville in Karpen Hall, room 114.

In 2010 the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy expanded its Doctor of Pharmacy program from Chapel Hill to Asheville and Western North Carolina. Admissions criteria and the curriculum are the same for students on both campuses. All students pay the same tuition and fees. The school is ranked number one among the nation’s pharmacy programs by U.S. News & World Report.

Students in the satellite program are based at UNC Asheville and receive classroom instruction from faculty in Chapel Hill via interactive, real-time video-conferencing and from faculty based in Asheville. Upon completing all degree requirements, the students graduate with a Doctor of Pharmacy from UNC-Chapel Hill. The Asheville campus graduated its first class in the spring of 2015, and approximately 25 students comprise each class.

The open house will include a presentation followed by a question and answer session. Members of the school’s faculty and staff will talk about career opportunities in pharmacy and give advice on being a competitive applicant.

Students at the Asheville campus enjoy significantly smaller class sizes, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the vibrant downtown Asheville community. Additionally, the Pharm.D. program at the Asheville campus is the only one in the country to offer a Rural Health Certificate Program (http://go.unc.edu/rural-pharmacy).

Those interested should register online at http://go.unc.edu/avl91617. There is an option at the bottom of the form to choose the Asheville rather than the Chapel Hill campus.

The visitor parking lots closest to Karpen Hall are P17, and P18. Open house participants may also park in visitor lot P9, or in non-resident student lots P10, P11 and P12. To help locate Karpen Hall and parking, visit the UNC Asheville campus map: https://maps.unca.edu/.
