Even as they get ready for final exams, UNC Asheville graduating seniors are also starring in their Commencement Celebration Video that will have its online premiere at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21.
The UNC Asheville Fall Graduates of the Class of 2021 Commencement Celebration Video will feature students completing their ceremonial walk earlier this semester, with names read by Provost Garakai Campbell and greetings from Chancellor Nancy J. Cable, Board of Trustees Chair Richard Lutovsky and Board of Governors Secretary Pearl Burris-Floyd. Some 220 students will complete their studies and earn their diplomas when the fall 2020 semester finishes on Nov. 20.
The Commencement Address will be delivered by Associate Professor Tiece Ruffin, who directs the Africana Studies Program, teaches education courses, and who is UNC Asheville’s recipient of the 2020 UNC System Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching. The student speaker will be London Newton, president of the Student Government Association.
The virtual Commencement will also feature photos and videos submitted by graduates who are not on campus to receive their diplomas in person.
