Wallace Shealy named Asheville realtor of the year

Asheville Board of REALTORS® name Wallace Shealy REALTOR® of the year

The Asheville Board of REALTORS® named Wallace Shealy as its REALTOR® of the year during a recent celebration at Cliffs at Walnut Cove in Asheville. He operates his own independent real estate firm covering residential and commercial needs throughout Western North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

Shealy, who completed his first real estate transaction more than two decades ago, always dreamed about coming back to Western North Carolina to live. Wallace has been a member of the Asheville Board of REALTORS® since he returned in 2007. He has served on numerous ABR and ABRS boards and committees, as well as serving for five years as a Director of NC Mountain MLS. In addition, Shealy is one of only a dozen members nationally of MLS provider CoreLogic’s National Advisory Panel.

Shealy has traveled from coast to coast in 2013 as the board’s leader in the area of technology. “Wallace knows about technology we will not see for years,” said Mark Ledbetter, outgoing president of the Asheville Board of REALTORS® and last year’s REALTOR® of the year.

“I am extremely honored to receive this award,” said Shealy, “especially on the night we celebrated Transylvania County and Brevard joining our association that now stretches from the Georgia/South Carolina line to Tennessee along the ridge of the mountains of North Carolina.”

Shealy is a graduate of the REALTOR® Institute of North Carolina Association of REALTORS® (GRI) and is a certified NC Real Estate Commission Instructor. He holds many real estate related certifications.Wallace received a Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. He also received a Master of Education degree in Counseling and Student Services from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. His undergraduate degree is in Business Management and Management Science from the University of South Carolina.

He’s also an accomplished storyteller and three-time president of the Asheville Storytelling Circle and 2010 Storytelling Arts Center of the Southeast – Bold-Faced Liar Champion Storyteller, past president of the Weaverville Business Association, and an active volunteer with the Asheville Downtown Association.
