Waterfall Keepers of NC will host first cleanup day on Saturday, March 20

Press release from the Waterfall Keepers of North Carolina: 

WHAT: Waterfall Keepers of North Carolina are hosting their inaugural Waterfall Sweep, a statewide effort to significantly clean up local waterfalls and dispose of litter and trash. This is the first major event hosted by Waterfall Keepers, which launched this past November. More than 150 community volunteers have registered to participate in the Sweep to date.

WHEN: Saturday, March 20th, the first day of spring!

WHERE: Dozens of waterfalls around the state, but the waterfall below is where Holly Bass, co-founder of Waterfall Keepers, will be and where media are invited to attend:

PARKER CREEK FALLS (Near Balsam Grove, NC)
Start Time: 10:00 am
End Time: There’s a great deal to clean up so people will work work as long as they feel comfortable. Crew Leader: Holly Bass, co-founder of Waterfall Keepers

Directions: From Beech Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway, head south on NC 215 for 8.35 miles and turn right on Tanasee Gap Road (SR 1324). This is 8.7 miles north of US 64. Drive Tanasee Gap Road for about 5.6 miles and park at the pullout on the left on the outside of the curve.

Cleanup Areas: On the road bank near the falls and in the woods near the top of the falls.
