WCU music department hosts winter vocal showcase on Dec. 1

Press release from the HART Theatre:

Students from Western Carolina University’s music department will perform their winter Vocal Showcase at the HART Theater on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public and will include performances of the following:

Opera Scenes: Don Giovanni, Madame Butterfly, Cosi fan Tutte and Cinderella.  These scenes are fully costumed.
Chamber Singers: featuring works from “Around the Globe”
Soloists: featuring Lieder from our recent “Schubert Abend” (Schubert Evening). Some of the greatest German Lieder from one of the greatest German Lieder composers.
Music Commemorating World War I and the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice
Music Celebrating the Holiday Season

The voice faculty presenting their students are Dr. Mary Kay Bauer, voice teacher and opera scenes director, and Dr. Allison Thorpe, director of choral activities. Ann Tiner is the pianist.
