Western Women’s Business Center announces InnovateHER Challenge

The Western Women’s Business Center,  in partnership with Mountain BizWorks and the A-B Tech Small Business Center, has announced it will host the Small Business Administration’s InnovateHER Challenge for 2016, according to a press release from the organization. Part of a national prize competition, InnovateHER seeks submissions from local female entrepreneurs showcasing their innovative ideas and creations that could positively impact the lives of women.

Participants will submit a product or idea and business plan to the WWBC by Tuesday, November 3. They must then present their plan before a panel of judges a week later on Nov. 10 at the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. One local winner will be selected by the WWBC to advance to the semi-finals; the winner of the semi-finals will be in contention for the SBA’s final round in Washington D.C. on March 17, 2016, where they will make a live pitch of their plan before the Administration’s panel of judges.

The top three finalists will receive cash prizes totaling $70,000 from the Microsoft Corporation. Business plan submissions are due to the WWBC by November 3. For information on how to submit entries, contact ryoung@thesupportcenter.nc.org or visit thesupportcenter-nc.org/lending/wwbc.
