From a press release:

Westside Fest at the Urban Orchard Cider Co. Courtyard on Sunday, May 25

Superfly Fabulous Events (www.superflyfab.com) & Urban Orchard Cider Company (www.urbanorchardcider.com) will be hosting the inaugural Westside Fest at the Urban Orchard Cider Co. Courtyard on Sunday, May 25th from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm, with music by DJ Kutzu.

The Westside Fest is a West Asheville Neighborhood craft beer and craft cider festival.   Participating breweries include West Asheville’s own Altamont Brewing Company, Oysterhouse Brewing Company, Wedge Brewing Company and New Belgium Brewing Company .  In addition, cider makers including Urban Orchard Cider Co., Noble Cider and Black Mountain CiderWorks and Kombucha Ales from Lenny Boy’s Kombucha will be attending.  The ticket includes unlimited cider and West Asheville brewery samples, Mobile Infusers featuring French Broad Chocolate every 45 minutes and Cider Cocktails at 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30.

The NC Harvest-Thyme Food Co-op will be fresh pressing apple cider the old fashioned way, by hand.  Both fresh pressed apple cider and Kombucha will be available for non-alcoholic options.

Come hungry and get a plate of the West Side Pig Pull aka – Pig Pickin’.   Chef Gustavo Villota will marinate an 80 pound sweet succulent pig in a fairly traditional North Carolina vinegar based sauce for 24 hours.  The basic recipe consists of apple cider vinegar, red pepper flakes and coriander powder.  A blend of hickory and apple woods will be used to smoke the swine for about eight hours or until it falls off the bone.  Chef Villota and Urban Orchard Cider Company will create a special sauce to lather this beast and serve with Southern potato salad, collard greens and fresh apple slaw.

West Asheville’s The Hop Ice Cream Café, will be on hand with some of your favorite flavors including West Asheville beer & cider ice cream.

Enjoy the amazing variety of West Asheville craft breweries, craft cider makers and kombucha.  For more information on the Westside Fest, go to www.westsidefest.com.  Tickets are $23 per person and can be purchased online or at Urban Orchard Cider Company.
