Wildfires cause additional evacuations

Additional evacuations have also been issued for the Tellico Fire in the following areas: Gassaway Road and south at the junction of Gassaway and Wesser Creek Road south down Wesser Creek Road.
FRANKLIN, The U.S. Forest Service continues to manage several fires in Macon County. Evacuation notice has been issued to those in immediate danger from the fire in the Queens Creek area of Nantahala. Those affected by the evacuation notice in the Partridge Creek and Deweese Road area of the Nantahala have been contacted. CodeRed alerts have been sent out and arrangements for shelter have been made through the Macon County Emergency Management Director, Warren Cabe. Please stay tuned to local radio stations, CodeRed messaging and Macon County public Health Facebook page for update information.
