Winter market at Blue Ridge Food Ventures, Wednesday, Feb. 6

A Winter Market will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 4 – 7 p.m., at Blue Ridge Food Ventures, located on the Enka campus of A-B Tech, 1461 Sand Hill Rd., in Candler. The event is open to the public and the location, about three miles from I-40 at Exit 44, offers plenty of free and convenient parking.

Vendors who will be participating include the following:

The Baker’s Box (Mills River): Baked goods
Brittain Farms (Mills River): Poultry, duck eggs and beef
Bushelle’s Seasoning (Charlotte): Fresh Caribbean herb blends
Cara Mae’s Potter’s Skin Food (Asheville): Lotion for hard-working hands
Deep Woods Mushrooms (Mills River): Fresh shiitakes
Hominy Valley Farms – Land and Cattle (Candler): Poultry, eggs and veggies
Looking Glass Creamery (Fairview): Goat and cow cheeses
Pyrwood Dairy (Pisgah Forest): Goat cheeses
Riverview Farm (Arden): Pork, blackberry juice and blackberry vinaigrette, asparagus puree
Sadie’s Fish Cakes (Charlotte): Frozen fish appetizers

Some of the items that will be sold at the Winter Market are prepared or got their start at Blue Ridge Food Ventures, a nonprofit, shared-use commercial kitchen and food and natural products manufacturing facility. Launched as a job creation initiative by AdvantageWest, the regional economic development partnership serving 23 counties of Western North Carolina, Blue Ridge Food Ventures was the first facility of its kind in North Carolina and is the largest in the Southeast. Since its beginnings in 2005, BRFV has helped more than 230 food and natural products businesses get their start.
